How young musicians build confidence through performance

Performance confidence grows through consistent preparation, supportive feedback, and regular opportunities to share music with an audience.

CIAMS encourages students to set small goals between events: refine one passage, record a practice run, or perform for a friend or family member before the main stage.

Masterclasses, ensemble work, and festival programming all give young artists safe spaces to learn, adapt, and grow as performers.

Highlights from the Canada International Arts & Music Festival

The Canada International Arts & Music Festival brings together young artists, educators, and audiences for a week of concerts, masterclasses, and competition rounds.

This season featured memorable performances across piano, strings, and voice, with participants representing schools and studios from across the region and abroad.

Congratulations to all award recipients, and thank you to volunteers, sponsors, and families who help make the festival possible each year.

What to expect at your first CIAMS festival

CIAMS festivals welcome musicians at many levels, from first-time performers to advanced competitors. Before you arrive, review the event schedule, repertoire requirements, and registration details on the event page.

On performance day, plan to arrive early for check-in, warm-up time, and a short orientation. Adjudicators and staff are there to support artists, answer questions, and help the day run smoothly.

Whether you are performing, accompanying, or attending as a supporter, CIAMS events are designed to celebrate artistry, learning, and community.
